A global leader in the mining, production and processing of building materials are seeking a Head of Group Fleet Management to be based from their headquarters in Germany.

The objective is to drive costs efficiencies and productivity by increasing transparency, building a structured approach to planning and managing the fleet, diligent execution and follow-up. This is a Global role with responsibility for changes and strategy across the whole group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fleet Management – responsible for over 4000 pieces of mobile equipment in the Group including heavy equipment such as wheel loaders, excavators, dump trucks and dozers across business lines of aggregates, asphalt and concrete with strong interface to cement
  • Manage Standards, Policy, Procedure, Data Collection, KPIs & Reporting, including: equipment replacement, overhauls, maintenance, equipment health & safety, equipment specifications by type and application
  • Create comprehensive mobile equipment database and ensure local use & maintenance globally
  • Continuous Improvement (CI), Planning & Execution. Ensuring mid to long-term fleet plans by site including size/number of equipment & prioritization of capital
  • Create and implement effective local process assessments driving improvements in operating performance, maintenance management, costs, and productivity
  • Cross-functional & Peer Support – building contacts & relationships with individual sites and local Fleet Managers to ensure strong support and effective implementation
  • Liaise and align with other Group Functions – Purchasing, Cement Technical Services & Finance
  • Training – create training materials supporting the above activities and ensure adaptation of training materials specifically for each Country as required

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Logistics or related field or equivalent extensive practical experience in mining, maintenance, fleet management etc.
  • Must be based in Germany and/or be able to relocate
  • Field experience, ideally in quarry/mining operations, and good understanding of the business needs
  • Excellent technical knowledge regarding mobile equipment operation and maintenance
  • Strong process-orientation with ability to create simple, effective, well-structured local processes
  • Excellent change management and leadership skills
  • Ability to execute improvement initiatives across the Group globally
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong ability to build relationships and coordinate diverse interests at all levels
  • Team-oriented, ability to align approach with peers
  • Flexibility for significant international travel
  • Experience in global rollouts and execution of initiatives across a large Group of local companies
  • Fluent English knowledge, verbal and written, additional languages are a strong plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), SAP experience is a plus
