Our client is an expert in the development and manufacture of speciality films for flexible packaging and labelling markets. Headquartered in Luxembourg and USA with production sites across Europe and the USA, they have a global headcount of c.3000 people, and turnover c.650m € annually.
Chad Harrison International was engaged by the firm to source a new Supply Chain Director with strong leadership and resilience to work within a matrixed organisation going through a difficult period of change. As a rapidly growing entrepreneurial organisation engaged with a number of M&A opportunities, the Supply Chain Director needed to have the skillset to adapt to changes quickly. Due to the departure of the previous incumbent, the search needed to be completed with speed.
Vacancy brief required a Supply Chain Director with knowledge and background of upstream plastics and strong technical understanding of masterbatch. Also required to have experience at both senior level logistics and procurement with multisite, international experience and availability to travel extensively. In addition to launching the running the company’s logistics and supply chain operations, this candidate needed to be responsible for the company’s procurement of raw materials.
The main challenge was the speed at which the company expected a replacement. An interim solution was provided while Chad Harrison International focussed on the permanent replacement, however the client was confident the supply chain responsibilities were managed internally until a replacement could be found.
In addition, the Chairman required final sign off on the hire and had a preference for seeing multiple CV’s for the position. Despite our recommendations on delivery 3-5 CV’s the client wanted to see a minimum of 10.
Due to the speed required to deliver on this opportunity and the client preference, despite our recommendations, we utilised both search methods and advertising across industry media. Understanding that we would not generate the candidates required from industry media in the time required for the client, our focus was on the search methodology and direct approach. Over 95% of the suitable profiles came from direct search. We identified that the client would require 10+ CV’s within a two week timeframe.
From commencement to completion, the timeframe was 6 weeks. From initially identifying 91 candidates in the target list, we successfully delivered 10 CVs to the client. This resulted in 9 candidates reaching the first stage interview and 3 candidates reaching the second stage interview.
1 candidate was finally invited to Dubai to meet with the Chairman and subsequently made an offer of employment.
The successful candidate commenced employment with the client within 13 days of accepting a written offer.
